OUR WEDDING
When i first started this blog i posted a shot from my wedding, which took place last August at a lovely venue called Notley Abbey, near Thame in Oxfordshire. Richard and I really wanted a simple garden wedding but we didn't realise at the time that you needed all kinds of permissions to marry outside in this country, so we set about searching for a venue close by with a registered outside ceremony area. When we came across Notley abbey we fell in love with the building and the grounds. It is so full of character with a beautifully simple interior that was a stunning backdrop to our ivory and black colour scheme.
I'm not the most organised person at times and I left a lot of things to the last minute when it came to organising the day, but everything went to plan anyway. Richard and I made all of the decorations ourselves, including all of our stationery, favours (which were little lavender plants pulled from our garden and planted into glass tealight holders) and menu cards. We framed our grandparents wedding photos and placed them around the venue and we also named our tables after them which was a lovely talking point for family and friends. We spent ages scouring car boot sales for vintage glass candlesticks and one of my closest friends who was also a bridesmaid helped by doing all the flowers which saved us a small fortune. It was a small wedding with only fifty or so of our closest nearest and dearest and we had it on a Thursday as it was so much cheaper to hire the venue. I was so worried that we were asking a lot of people to book time off work but everyone made it and we had the most wonderful day. Lee Robbins, our photographer on the day, took some beautiful photographs and I really wanted to share them. I hope you like! xxx
